Norris explores the feeling of acedia, which dating back before medieval times, was considered as "an apathy towards spirituality, work, and friendship."  In Norris' journey, she talks about how acedia needs to be brought back into modern vernacular and explored, pertaining to its links to depression and the devastation it has caused to individuals and cultures throughout history.
