This is an account of the 95 African-Americans who fought in the Spanish Civil War 1936-9 based on the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives as well as many contemporary accounts. There is an account of what is known about each one of them. They fought side by side with the white volunteers and there was at least one black officer commanding a mainly white battalion.
