Description

Gordon Kahl was a hardworking farmer and a God-fearing patriot.  He was also an outspoken leader of the Posse Comitatus, an extreme right-wing organization born of despair and nurtured by racism and terrorism.  Kahl's tax protests had earned him one jail sentence; when marshals came to arrest him for violating probation, Kahl, with his son, killed three men and became a fugitive from the law.

A splendid piece of reportage, a book that reminds us how deep hatred, prejudice, and zealotry can run in America.
