Civil War in the United States, The

Collection of writings by Karl Marx and Frederick (Frederich) Engels which originally appeared in the New York Daily Tribune, , the Vienna Presse and correspondence between Marx and Engels  These writings center around the American Civil War, which Marx and Engels called "the first grand war of contemporaneous history".   Some of the writings discuss factors that shaped the conflict, the role of the West, labor and slavery, and the military phases of the struggle.

This edition originally published in 1937.   Preface by the (unnamed) editor, end-notes, biographical index (summaries of the lives of people mentioned) and general notes.
