Description

Edited volume collecting chapters which document the "cultural creativity" of Indigenous and African American communities in the Americas as they "maintain and recreating enduring identities" through cultural interaction and under multifarious historical conditions. It is this process which the authors call "ethnogenesis," and chapters include Seminole, Plains nations, Caribbean, Amazonian case studies, as well as Surinam, Guyana, and Ecuador.
