Passionate War, The

A detailed history of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) which is widely considered to be the dress rehearsal for WWII., where Hitler and Stalin learned techniques of total war.  The reader will meet George Orwell as a wounded foot soldier, Andre Malraux as an aviator, Enrest Hemingway and John Dos Passos as propagandists, and Arthur Koestler as a spy.
