Vanishing White Man, the

Steiner writes of the Indian fad-the white search for primitive innocence-that has led to an invasion by anthropologists and the commodfication of Indian culture. He cautions that white men have done to Indians they have done to themselves; that unless they return to the humanity which they have lost, and which Indians in many ways have preserved, the white man is doomed to extinction.
