Description
This fictional Japanese film, released in 1980, tells the story of a global pandemic caused by bio-weapons that destroys all human life on Earth, except for a few hundred scientific personnel in Antarctica and the crew of one nuclear submarine. As they try to rebuild human society, they discover that the U.S. and Soviet nuclear arsenals are poised to annihilate the entire planet via their automated reaction systems. Apocalyptic in tone and global in scope, "Virus" provides a multiple-nightmare answer to the question of humanity's capacity for destruction.
