Introduction by Melvyn Douglas.Autobiography of Helen Douglas who was a Broadway star, then a congressional representative. In 1950 she ran unsuccessfully for Senate against Richard Nixonin a very contentious ace where she was redbaited. Afterwards she worked against the arms rac, and for conservation and for improved conditions for farmworkers.
She died in 1980 before the book was completed. It was finished byJjune Callwood, based on her notes.
