Nikki Giovanni, one of the most influential black writers, at the age of thirty released her second book of poems. This book marks a new dimension in tone and philosophy; It is personal and biographical. Divided into two sections, the poems center around "her" house, and range from the theme of mothers and their children, as well as childhood memories, to black leaders and black Africa.
