Description

"Yard Wide Yarns is a zine written by Florida, U.S.A. resident Jessica Mills. Started in 1993, the zine was comprised of personal stories, cultural commentary, and illustrations. Common topics are touring with her band, and, after the 2000 birth of her first child, motherhood. Jessica describes the zine as "punk, feminist, sometimes humorous & always personal."

Issue 8 of the zine consisted of writing from the first year of her Maximum Rock 'N' Roll column "My Mother Wears Combat Boots." Excerpts from Yard Wide Yarns was featured in volumes 2 and 4 of Zine Yearbook." -- taken from ZineWiki

Jessica reflects upon her earlier years...from ages 5-12, to being a teenage girl and then a young woman in her 20s. Writings about motorcycles, eloping, finding out about being pregnant, an interview with The Eyeliners, and more. There's also a good drawn piece about the inside stall of a graffiti-laden public bathroom.
